Osage County Genealogy Center
This photo was taken in the garden of the OCHS.
Finding your roots is easy when you use the county "G" Center. Located in the Zewicki house , you will find family histories, birth and death records, marriage licenses, church and cemetery records, county newspapers on microfilm, atlases, and an experienced staff. It is the only place in the county to provide extensive research options and now even searches Internet databases and online resources.
Our Hours
The office, museum, and research library at the Zewicki House are open year-round Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 9:00 till noon. We are also open on Sunday afternoons from the first Sunday in May to the last Sunday in September.
Townley House tours are by reservation only.
Research Policies
If you're a member of OCHS, or decide to become a member, you are entitled to use the resources at the Genealogy Center FREE of charge. Non-members MUST purchase a membership in order to use the Genealogy Center or to have research done for them.
We do limited in-house research for members as time allows. Osage County was formed in 1841 and we have census records from 1840 through 1910; naturalization records, marriage records, cemetery records, probate tax and land deed records (on microfilm). We also have plat books, maps, county histories, family histories, and keep a vertical file of all requests for family information.
We are here to be of service, and welcome your inquiries.
